20 miles to go before I sleep

I put in a really long week of paddling and work, but I rallied my energy level for this 20 mile trek from Kalapaki, on Kauai's East Side, to Salt Pond, on Kauai's West Side (we paddled past the South Side).

Josh & Kamu heading out from Kalapaki

Veteran paddleboarder Kamuela, my Na Pali buddy Josh and new-to-me paddler Matt all had a nice downwinder. Feeling pretty confident about Molokai after finishing that paddle in combination with the previous week's training.

I'm gonna kick your butt!

Interval training with Gene the animal
A lifeguard comp? A triathlon? A paddling race? Kealia lifeguard Gene is up for all of it, and he is going to win ... I took Gene on in a battle of 30 1-minute pieces. I won't say who won, but we both went home tired.

Virgin Paddle

Veteran Kealia lifeguard Gene steps out away from the longboard, shortboard, SUP, jetski, surfski, bike and who knows what other crafts (the guy does every sport I think) to try his hand at a Kealia to Wailua paddle.

Paddleboards & Science - Together Forever

This promises to be an exciting year, and as I am gearing up for the 2010 season I am really stoked for my 10th channel crossing!

In my quest to tie our sports world to education, I am also making wonderful progress in marine science education. See the press release link for details on our new aquatic science professional development project for Hawaii teachers (and no, the money doesn't come to me; I just get to be in charge of spending it!).

New training buddy - Garmin 310x

So stoked on my virtual friend!

Check out my paddles - a loop on Feb. 25th (blue line) and today, Sunday Feb. 28th, a screaming downwinder on kauai's east side (red line). Top speed 9.7mph... looks like I should have paddled out off the beach and made a straight run down...

Anyone wanna come play?

The Future is So Bright.... We Gotta Wear Shades!

Thor and I got married on New Year's Eve 2009!

I'm officially in the process of changing my name to Kanesa Duncan Seraphin (Duncan as my middle name, but I will be using both professionally and athletically).

Maui Jim sponsored our wedding party! As you can see, we all loved our new MJs! Our super photographers (Kristina and Kepano Kukuewa) of www.leakai.com captured some great moments
